The Stable Reviews

A gorgeous gem of a cottage. Beautiful surroundings. We have stayed in a few cottages over the years. You were the first to provide big bath towels! Thank you. Thank you for providing tea ,coffee and the milk. The biscuits were a welcome bonus. We will definitely be back.
We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at The Stables. The property is very well equipped and in a peaceful rural location but with access to the A.40 in less than 10 minutes ideal for visiting locations in this beautiful part of the country.
Daniel
Comfortable accommodation, great outdoor spaces. Not much of a view from inside cottage .Shower only average .
Katharine
A beautiful cosy clean cottage. A large garden for our dog to explore. The kitchen was well stocked with kitchen implements etc. The owner had left Easter eggs, along with milk, tra and coffee, which was a lovely suprise.
Kelley
We had a lovely stay, really enjoyed the break and we had everything we needed. The beds were so comfy!
Amazing place, our dog loved the garden. Lovely cottage, needs some updating decor wise and floorboards are very squeaky. Just needs abit of work inside maintenance but these things are easily fixed and did not affect our holiday. Jane is lovely and her dog is so friendly. We will definitely book again!
A cosy holiday let in a good position for exploring the surrounding area, or just staying put and enjoying home comforts. The garden and river running alongside is lovely. The owners were friendly and helpful. The only drawback is that the shower is pathetic. Coupled with low water pressure we think, the head needed cleaning which we did but nothing beats a power shower!
Frederick
Really nice and quiet max our cocker Spaniel loved the big field just outside ... Really nice and quiet max our cocker Spaniel loved the big field just outside the door Same about the fishing it was too much over grown still plenty of other things to do thank you
Comfortable little cottage in a beautiful quiet location. The large secure garden is brilliant for dogs and children and the little bridge to the island accessed via a gate from the main garden was fun to explore. Some nice eateries nearby and overall a perfect base to explore the forest, Symonds Yat and the River Wye. We would definitely love to revisit.
Amanda
Excellent stay, comfy and clean accommodation. Great area to explore. Grounds are brilliant for children and dogs and well maintained. Would have appreciated update on change of bath to P shape, access space was tight and this made it a little difficult to get in as the party was made up of two less mobile people.
Lovely cottage in beautiful scenery
Lovely cottage, very clean and well maintained, would definately stay again
Jackie
A well equipped, comfortable and cosy cottage in the most amazing location. Wonderful for dog owners in particular. Friendly helpful hosts. We hope to go back there in the future.
What a delightful little cottage! It was really clean with lovely bed linen and towels, some really nice touches. The surrounding area is beautiful, and so peaceful. Would highly recommend and hope to return.
Angela
Warm, quiet, comfortable and field was brilliant for the dogs. Would definitely book again.
Nice walks around the area, big garden to let the kids and dogs run round. Also the cottage was stunning and homely.
Given we were there in mid Feb the accommodation was warm and cosy and suited the two of us perfectly given we had a dog with us. Can imagine in summer it being a beautiful place to stay.
Gillian
Lovely stay over Christmas
Kirstie
Lovely, very well equipped little cottage with spacious grounds for children or dogs. Very comfortable beds. Great position for a base to explore the local area. Within walking distance of Goodrich Castle and a short distance to Ross on Wye, Monmouth etc. Very friendly local pub 12 a mile away which serves good food and is dog friendly. Owners left us alone all week but we knew we could contact them if needed. Couldn't have asked for more.
Lovely property for a short break. Well equipped and luxurious for two people. In a lovely setting. Bedrooms and dining area would be cramped for four people.
Wonderful stay at The Stable. Comfortable and cosy cottage had all the essentials needed. Lovely outdoor space for dogs to run and a great location for exploring. Our hosts were on hand in case we needed anything
Bernadette
Beautiful cottage with large outdoor space. Friendly host and very tranquil setting. Highly recommended
A very lovely cottage in a rural location. It has all the facilities and things you could need. Fab walks straight from the door. Very dog friendly. The owners are friendly, welcoming and on hand for any questions but also give you plenty of space to do your thing.
William
A good location to explore the area
Steven
Lovely property in fantastic setting
Had a lovely week. Cottage very comfy. Kitchen well equipped. Beds very comfy. Not far from lots of walks with dogs. Plenty of space outside for dog. Lovely food at the local pub. Just dont use the local footpath as the are not looked after and blocked.
Antony
Well equipped kitchen. Comfortable sofas and beds. Well maintained, extremely large garden areas with lovely area around the cottage.
A very comfortable and well equipped cottage in ideal surroundings and in a beautiful part of the UK. It is very dog friendly with a huge fenced area. The owners are friendly and helpful, but are careful not to be intrusive. We had a very enjoyable stay.
Had a lovely week in this very comfortable cottage. Great outside space for the dogs.
Lovely cottage in a fabulous location. We particularly enjoyed being near water and was lucky enough to see a kingfisher! The cottage was well equipped although maybe a little bit small for 4 adults and dog who had a great time in the large field. We made good use of the sun loungers and the selection of board games. Would definitely return.
Fabulous cottage well set out and lots of home comforts. Fabulous spacious garden for the dogs to run around and secure. We had a great holiday thank you Jane for letting us stay in your lovely cottage.
The toilet seat was loose. The stable door needs to be weather proofed before the winter. Otherwise a very comfortable cottage in beautiful countryside.

We arrived on Friday late afternoon and owner popped in to see if we ok then said she had to go and sort her mum. We then had there son on a lawn mower cutting grass for ages. Then on Saturday their son and friend revving up their motorbikes , finally on Sunday husband using a drummer for hours, not the quiet holiday we were hoping for. At no time did they come round and say are you out as we need to do these jobs but thought that they could have been done when we were out . The bed was very comfortable and had a good night sleep. The house did need a few jobs done on it but it was comfortable. You can get to many places from where it is situated.
Lovely comfrtable accomodation in an ideal location.
Beautiful cottage situated in grounds of the owner, however this did not interrupt our stay. The owners were on hand if needed but otherwise left us to it. We did however get a lovely greeting from Millie, the owners dog, most evenings to play ball. We stayed with our dog who had use of 2 fields throughout the stay. The cottage had all the amenities you could want and was lovely and clean. There is a local pub within easy walking distance, we had a drink there but didn't eat, although the food did look good. The cottage is ideally situated for visiting The Forest of Dean yes we did see wild boar, Symonds Yat, and the Wye valley as a whole. All in all a fantastic cottage for a break away.
We had a wonderful stay and perfect for our 2 dogs.
Thank you for providing an outstanding place to stay in a fantastic setting within such easy reach of the A40 but not suffering any noise from it, meaning we could do all of the things we wanted in the Forest of Dean whilst still staying in a lovely quiet spot. Having the dog with us the outside space was invaluable for him.
Kayleigh
Lovely stay, great location and the house was really well equipped and clean.
Sheets had marks on , no heating on arrival or next day this should have been done before we arrived! Utensils dirty and water pressure poor looked like it hadn't been cleaned. Dead fly and cobwebs and towels that are like sandpaper definitely not worth staying here plus description on owners grounds very vague I wanted to be away from other people and found out that the owner lives right on the doorstep so left earlier than planned never again disgusting.
