Perfect little retreat for those who need to get away for some pease and quiet. Cottage welcoming and well stocked with everything we needed. I do lots of home cooking and everything in the kitchen was well supplied. Tea, coffee milk and shortbread biscuits for our arrival. Jan was the perfect hostess and. Most certainly will be coming back. I am glad we stayed for the entire 2 weeks. Excellent pubs in the area serving superb food the bell in Yarpole. We took a few trips out to Ludlow which is close by, another of my favourite places, walked the dog in Mortimer forest and went fishing at Docklow Pools. There is a superb little community shop nearby Yarpole stocking everything including speciality local cheeses, a coffee shop serving home made cakes. The WiFi at the smithy was excellent and there is a fire stick on the TV for all your favourite programmes while youre away from home. Perfect little cottage, Jan was an amazing host.

Fantastic cottage, comfy, with excellent facilities. Lovely friendly welcome with tea, coffee, proper milk from the owners milkman Big plus, wonderful tasty homemade biscuits too. Owner very close and helpful. Area great for walking with lots of interest. If you want a fast paced holiday, look elsewhere, but if you want interest, relaxation and an active time in a rural community this is for you. Apart from the walks close by, Ludlow is a must and Queen's Wood arboretum is well worth a visit.

We enjoyed our stay in this old cottage. It was very well equipped. Owner on hand to answer any questions and help out if needed. Beautiful surrounding countryside with lots of lovely gardens and NT properties nearby. We were there in a heatwave so appreciated the courtyard garden and the thick walls and stone floors in the cottage!
We had a lovely stay at this cottage. The owners were very friendly and welcoming, and the village is charming. It was the perfect base while visiting family. The cottage has everything you might need for a comfortable stay. With its old, thick walls, I imagine it would be wonderfully cool during a heatwave, and when the weather is cooler there are plenty of heaters as well as a lovely log burner to keep it cosy. There are lots of public footpaths around the surrounding country lanes. As we have a reactive dog, we chose to use a bookable private dog walking field just five minutes away, which worked perfectly for us. The new owners have already made some great improvements, including installing a walkin shower, which I personally prefer to the bath shown in the photos. They also mentioned they have more improvements planned, which will only add to what is already a very enjoyable place to stay.
The Smithy was a comfortable little cottage, with everything you need for your stay . . we thoroughly enjoyed our stay as did our little dog Reggie... lovely Jan our hostess is mostly around & there if needed.. we certainly enjoyed the home made biscuits.. with our cuppa tea.. The Smithy is well placed for touring around Hertfordshire..we will return next year.. Thank you x

We loved our stay in the cosy cottage. It was well equipped for 2 people. It was a great location with nice places to visit, and easy walks from the front door. Owner was very warm and friendly. I was expecting a bath, but the owner has removed this and replaced with a walkin shower. Bird song was amazing in the morning.

What a absolutely gem of place this quite hamletvillage is just what we needed after a busy stressful year year the host was helpful and very informative without being intrusive the peaceful quite area was of the beaten track well worth a visit with for anybody that needs to get away. The farms are defo the place to go to buy your food information inside the smithy was well put together and informative all together one of the most enjoyable holidays we have had this year. Very greatfull to the host for the opportunity to visit this place too marks all round

The Smithy is a wonderful and welcoming place to take a relaxing break. Very quite and in the middle of nature. A great view of the stars at night and beautiful walks close by. Our Spaniel appreciated the dog toys in the cupboard. We enjoyed the log burner which kept the whole building warm. Jan was friendly and available if we needed her but left us alone otherwise. Definitely a place I would recommend and I look forward to booking it again soon.

We really enjoyed our stay. The cottage was extremely clean and well ordered. It was equipped very well and everything worked. The cottage was very tastefully decorated and very cosy. Lovely generously sized towels and lashings of hot water in the well equipped bathroom. The Smithy is a lovely hideaway and Jan our host was so helpful and friendly. The village is small and very peaceful, but there is a farm and village shop very close. We felt very welcome. The local roads are a bit bumpy but rather a sign of the times. We would be very happy to stay at the Smithy again.

A quaint little cottage which used to be a Smithy. The brand new owners next door couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. A well equipped cottage and the owner Jan provided the things I requested when I didnt find them. Situated in a lovely little village. Unfortunately the footpaths from the village have styles with no dog access, however just outside the village are some lovely woods and field walks, also there are great walks within short drive away. I had a lovely week and as there was a heat wave, the cottage was perfect to keep cool!
