Rose Cottage Reviews

Jacqueline
Lovely little cottage in a good location. Really great welcome pack, which was very much appreciated. Cottage is comfortable with nice views. Location is great for getting to places like Abergavenny, Monmouth and Hereford, all about 30 minutes away. The Garway Moon Inn is only a 10 minute walk away and the food is really good, especially the curry night on Tuesday.

We had a lovely weekend stay at Rose Cottage. Lovely welcome basket of food pasta pesto sauce sour dough bread half a dozen eggs and chocolate and milk and butter in the fridge. A thoughtful selection to allow evening meal and breakfast given remoteness of the property for an unsuspecting guest. We were organised and brought all our meals for the weekend so that we didnt have to use time to shop. The cottage had everything we needed nice not to have a tv. Hadnt realised we were directly next to the owners but it didnt bother us. Lots of walks on the door step and local history with the nearby Templar church and the castle and church at Skenfrith with its wild swimming spot. Great location and property.

We recently stayed at Rose Cottage and overall had a pleasant stay, with some lovely touches but also a few disappointments. On arrival, we were really impressed to find a complimentary bottle of wine and fresh milk waiting for us. It was a thoughtful welcome and a lovely start to our stay. The cottage itself was comfortable, but there were a few things that we feel should be made clearer. The biggest surprise was that the cottage is directly opposite the owners house, with a work shed overlooking the patio area. We had booked expecting a more secluded and private setting, so it would be helpful if this was mentioned in the listing. The bathroom could also be improved by fitting a bath mat, as water easily ends up on the floor, creating a potential slipping hazard. One thing that caused unnecessary stress was receiving a message at 7am on the morning of departure asking us to strip the beds and place the bedding inside the used pillowcases, along with any towels. This wasnt mentioned anywhere in the cottage information, and as we didnt see the message until we woke at 10am knowing we had to leave by 11am, it left us rushing around trying to get everything done. This information should really be included in the welcome pack or house instructions so guests can plan ahead. The bath also needed cleaning when we arrived, as there was a residue around it that hadnt been cleaned properly. We also spent quite a while looking for the green bin, as the instructions said it was by the garage, but it was actually at the end of the driveway. Updating the directions would save future guests some time. Another surprise was that the cottage didnt have a TV. While we were told it wasnt advertised as having one, its something weve always found included in holiday cottages. To their credit, once we mentioned it, a TV was delivered and installed on the Saturday, which we really appreciated. Finally, storage in the bedrooms was limited, as the low drawers were filled with spare bedding, leaving just one set of drawers for guests across both bedrooms. Overall, Rose Cottage has plenty of potential, and the welcome gifts and the owners willingness to provide a TV showed good customer service. With a few improvements to the information provided before arrival, a little more attention to cleaning, and a couple of practical additions, it could offer an even better experience.

Wonderful little cottage. Very impressed with how well this was equipped with everything you could possibly need. Just wish I knew it had a coffee pod machine as I wouldve brought extra pods! It was a really hot weekend so thankfully there were fans in both bedrooms, much appreciated! We were there to attend a wedding at the nearby Dragonsgate and it was perfectly situated for this. Just wish we had had more time to enjoy this lovely peaceful property and explore the nearby area. Will hopefully be back soon!

We had a lovely stay at Rose Cottage and would definitely like to return.
A really lovely property in a great location. Clean, comfortable and perfect for 2 couples and a baby to spend a weekend. There was a fault with the local water in the area during our stay on one of the hottest weekends of the year, and the owners really went above and beyond to ensure we had enough water in bottles to be comfortable and hydrated. Would highly recommend and will definitely consider staying again if we're back in the area!
What a perfect cottage to spend a relaxing time in, everything was 1st class, and the welcome hamper was exceptional.
Rose Cottage is beautiful and we really enjoyed our stay. Equipment and facilities were fantastic and of high quality. The cottage is exquisite and comfortable. The views are delightful and everywhere is so peaceful and calm. Wildlife is in abundance it couldnt be any more Beatrix Potter! Lovely welcome pack which was so very thoughtful and helpful. Location perfect and we enjoyed walks into Garway. We definitely want to visit this charming cottage soon. Thank you
