The Old Chapel Reviews

What a superb property and lovely that the owners left us a few things to get us started. Spotless throughout, great facilities and in a lovely village hope we can comeback in the future
The Old Chapel could not have been a more welcoming, cozy and well equipped home from home. It had everything we needed, including an electric BBQ for a surprise meal outdoors in April on the private patio. Inside, both bedrooms had en suite bathrooms and a mezzanine seating area. Downstairs we had a log fire that we didnt use! The fridge and freezer were spacious and the real treat was a Nespresso Vertuo and milk frother to make perfect fortado and decaf coffees. It was spotless throughout with plenty of places to sit and relax. It was a short walk to a friendly pub The Pandy and trips into Hereford, HayonWye and the Black Mountains were easily done. We would highly recommend the Old Chapel to anyone.
What an absolute gem! Clean, bright, comfortable accommodation. Fantastic renovation that has brought new life to a piece of history. Lovely host. Quiet location. Ample parking for two cars. All required equipment, and more, provided for a 5 star staycation! Five minute walk to a local pub serving good food if you don't want to cook. Thank you!
Christine
What a lovely chapel conversion with a high spec finish, comfortable beds and very clean throughout. The owners next door were very friendly but not intrusive. Situated a short distance from the village pub which served very good food at a reasonable price, and walks from the village into the stunning countryside, this was just perfect, with the EV charger a definite bonus.
Joanna
The Old Chapel was beautifully renovated and makes a comfortable place to stay for a couple or small family. Its conveniently located for exploring Hay on Wye and the surrounding countryside. We particularly enjoyed walks along the River Wye, and from the cottage up to Arthurs Stone.
Robert
The Chapel is a superb conversion of the best quality. Everywhere was clean. The open plan downstairs is warm and comforting. The settees were comfortable. We loved the downstairs toilet, it saved the walk up the stairs. The kitchen was fully stocked with plenty of utensils and the fridge and freezer were a good size. Upstairs, both bedrooms were ensuite, and were nice and warm. The area was very quiet with a fantastic welcoming pub a few minutes walk away. The whole area around Dorstone is wonderful for walking.
Graham
Fantastic accommodation for our week away. The converted chapel was beautifully appointed, warm, and comfortable. Having two ensuite bedrooms, along with a downstairs WC, was extremely convenient. The hosts were excellentfriendly, helpful, and available when needed, yet respectful of our privacy for the rest of the stay.

The Chapel is a beautiful renovation set amongst stunning countryside. Everything you need has been provided for your stay. The Chapel is very well equipped and cosy on a winters day. Plenty of peace and quiet to allow you to unwind and recharge your batteries. I would love to return for another visit in the future.
The Old Chapel is in a beautiful rural location and its very well equipped with everything you are likely to need. We were grateful for the welcome pack of chocolate, crisps and Prosecco, and logs, kindling and newspaper for the fire. The beds are comfortable and the welcome was warm. The local pub, The Pandy Inn, is 2 minutes walk and serves delicious food in large portions. We had a lovely stay, thank you.
We could not fault this property at all it looked perfect from the listing and it was every bit as wonderful great care and thought had been given to the layout and furnishings throughout. Large open living area, equipped with everything one would require for a stay, long or short. The decor would suit all tastes and had been finished to a high standard. The information booklet provided all information required regarding the property and surrounding area. We lost a day's stay due to unprecedented weather conditions and I wish we could have stayed longer, however, we shall return. There are lovely walks in the immediate vicinity and Hay on Wye a short drive away. Thank you!
This is an absolutory perfect property, Second visit and just as good as first. Coffee pod supply and unlimited logs for wood burner. Lovely pub with food yards away.

Highly recommended
The property is just gorgeous and so well thought out. We loved the mezzanine area for reading, and the coffee maker was a real treat! Lots of nice touches, and plenty of space. A great property in a great setting Dorstone itself is lovely and the pub was a gem. Hearing the church bells ringing on Thursday was an unexpected bonus!
A beautiful chapel conversion provided a lovely, peaceful stay for 2 couples. The chapel has all youd need for a comfortable stay.
Christine
Beautiful Quiet Location, Cottage has everything you need for your time away. Very clean and comfortable and a great base to explore the surrounding area. Would definitely return. The local Pub the Pandy Inn very welcoming with great food that is reasonably priced. No local shop so make sure you take the basics with you. Parking for two cars and the added bonus of an EV charger. Had a great week here with friends and Debs and her husband made us very welcome so a BIG thank you.
Rachel
We had a fantastic stay in The Chapel. Wonderful building, extremely well appointed and equipped. Lots of thoughtful touches including gift basket on arrival and hand soaps etc. Location was great for exploring the Wye Valley, Hay on Wye, Monmouth, as well as having lots of local walks. We enjoyed eating at the local The Pandy Inn as well as venturing further out. Would definitely stay again.
Sophie
Lovely property everything had been thought of to make our stay extra comfortable and the village itself and the surrounding countryside make it extra special. I think we did everything that was recommended by previous guests and listed in the guest book!
Superb conversion, carried out with lots of love and attention to detail. Good welcome pack, including lots of pods for the super coffee machine and logs for the wood burning stove. Friendly hosts live next door and have lots of suggestions of things to do in the area. 10 out of 10. Would definitely return.
By far the best property we have stayed in and there have been many. Property immaculate modern and still luxury of real fire. Superbly insulated and simple easy to use thermostat control. so many properties have owners controlling your heat Charming family owners next door handy for any questions but totally unobtrusive. Fantastic
Fantastic place to stay with great facilities. Thoughtfully renovated with lots of room. A few little walks available straight from the cottage. A lovely old cosy pub which serves really tasty and reasonably priced food. Close to Hay on wye and the black mountains and Brecon beacons
Wonderful chapel conversion, well thought out. Everything needed for a week away. Good location for visiting Hereford, HayonWye, Monmouth, Presteigne and Knighton. The only problem was the sofas are not very comfy for short people.
The Chapel was warm and welcoming, clean and tidy, lovely welcome pack for us too. The bed were lovely and comfortable, and there was everything we could need in the kitchen. We had a fabulous holiday made perfect by The Chapel and the local pub was friendly, with great food too. Definitely an added bonus!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovingly restored old Methodist chapel. Very comfortable, cosy, well equipped & spotlessly clean. A peaceful village with walks in beautiful countryside from the door & a friendly pub within walking distance. The only negative for us was the total absence of any clothes storage facility in either bedroom except for a hanging rail. Otherwise perfect!
Stephen
The property has everything that you wish for. very comfortable beds and the showers are brilliant as with the lovely log burner. It poured it down almost every day bar 1 day when it was lovely to drive out and see the views!!. Whilst we would Highly Recommend this property, unfortunately the same can't be said for Sykes as we found it was vary near impossible to contact them on the phone and there is no where one can send them an email, to confirm your sleeping arrangements. Steve Barrow
Absolutely loved staying here. Spotlessly clean and loved the design and interior of the Chapel. Will stay there again. Only downside was with Sykes themselves tried to telephone them to confirm configuration of beds no answer, texted them and it took over 24 hours to get a response was not impressed.
Charming converted chapel, done to a very high standard, good easy access to shower and lovely comfortable beds. Easy parking. Our only problem, as mentioned in a previous review, the settees were too low for 2 over 70 year olds, we utilised all the cushions to try and make them better. Nice short walk to The Pandy Inn which served lovely food complete with good hospitality. We had beautiful weather and on walking back from the Pandy on our last evening were accompanied by the bell ringers practicing at the local church, just perfect.
We booked the old chapel for a writer's retreat and it was perfect to get away from the hustle and bustle of real life. It was so quiet and peaceful. A visit to The Pandy Inn is a must. So welcoming and excellent food at a very reasonable price.
A really impressive renovation with all modern conveniences yet still retaining the character of the original building. The village is in a very scenic area with plenty of walking opportunities. The local pub is highly recommended with a very warm welcome and excellent value food and drink.
The Old Chapel, Dorstone is a stunning property. The conversion from Chapel to cottage has been so well considered resulting in a welcoming and extremely comfortable home. The cottage is well furnished and equipped and we would not hesitate to recommend it as a great place for a relaxing holiday.
What a lovely place to stay. Fabulous conversion of a chapel. Everything you need for a very comfortable stay. Thank you.
The property is beautifully presented. It is a converted Chapel and has been done in a very sympathetic way. When we arrived on the Friday evening the property was lovely and warm with the heating having been put on ahead of our arrival, always a pleasant surprise. Whilst we didn'tcook this time we had a look at the kitchen and can say that it is well equipped with plenty of cutlery, crockery, untensils and mugscups.Would fully recommend this property and we will be looking to go back in the future. Thank you.
Sharon
Lovely chapel and area. Really enjoyed our stay
Deborah
Beautiful property and a lovely relaxing feeling. Couldn't fault anything at all. Had a great stay.
The Old Chapel is truely delightful. Its conversion has been done to a very high standard. We were very comfortable with lovely bed and bedding. The shower was very good and the shower gell and body lotion were lovely. I am tempted to buy some myself. The selection of goodies to welcome us was very thoughtful. Dorstone is a great village and the Pandy Inn well worth a visit.
Katherine
This is a beautifully converted chapel, with lovely and characterful accommodation. It is excellently appointed and we would definitely come again. We have high standards with regards to holiday cottages and this is one of the best we have stayed in. Dorstone is a very attractive village too.
Lovely property. Very clean and tidy. Great to see ecofriendly products used and a charging station for electric cars. Owners next door very helpful and friendly.
Michael
