19 Lion Street Reviews

Philip
A spacious, tastefully furnished and very well equipped cottage. Really well located to walk anywhere quickly in Hay, with the massive plus of having its own off road parking. The only negative for us was the patiocourtyard not really being suitable for a dog very very small and not secure, so your dog cannot be left unattended here... Otherwise a 5 star property!
Excellent accommodation. Very well presented. Excellent central location with benefit of off road parking. All needs catered for, including extras such as milk, condiments, tea and coffee. Very spacious. Had a very relaxed and comfortable stay.
A delightful, comfortable cottage that benefits greatly from its proximity to the centre of Hay no more than a threeminute walk away and the awardwinning Old Black Lion pub no more than 30 seconds away. Both bedrooms have generous ensuite bathrooms one with a shower and one with a bath and there is a convenient downstairs wc. There is a good quality television with freeview options. The offstreet car parking is a bonus, although it would probably be difficult to accommodate more than a single vehicle. Worth noting that the parking space is accessed from Bear Street, which is oneway. Altogether a most impressive, wellappointed cottage, and one that we hope to visit again.
This house was perfect! I cannot fault its cleanliness, comfort and facilities. It was immaculate and everything provided from the towels to the cutlery was of exceptional quality. The house is very convenient for all the pubs, shops etc. The parking outside was an added bonus. The owner was super responsive and we were very touched to receive milk, wine and biscuits as a welcome gift. I would highly recommend the house and hope to return.

Lovely Cottage in HayonWye. We stayed for 5 nights, the cottage has every thing you need for a comfortable stay and the added addition of parking right outside the property. The welcome pack was a lovely touch. I would highly recommend a stay here and would definitely return.
Michael
A lovely cottage in a great loctation and an exceptional high standard of cleanliness and facilities. We all had a geat week.
Extremely thoughtfully furnished. We had a superb stay and really loved the accommodation. Thank you!
A very comfortable and well equipped cottage, cosy, very clean and smart. Being right in the middle of the town, it gives easy access to all the bookshops, and to the cafes and restaurants. There are plenty of places to visit beyond the town too, and the Wye Valley is beautiful.
An absolutely fabulous place to stay, in a perfect position to visit the bookshops of Hay. Its position exactly across the road from the Black lion is an added bonus, as is the extremely unusual for Hay off road parking. The house is finished to absolutely superb standard, and everything in it is pretty much perfect, the best property we have stayed in without a doubt. The only thing I could say against it was there were too many light switches!, which says a lot. I would have no problems with whole heartedly recommending that anyone stay here.
Daniel
We really enjoyed our stay, the cottage was very well equipped and maintained, with plenty of space, and a very good location for the town, without being busy. Very handy to have offroad parking, I reckon that could be a problem otherwise. Bedrooms were a good size, not huge, but not cramped, and bathrooms for each was great. Beds were comfortable, and a nice bonus to have shower gels, shampoos, and conditioners there too. If we stay in Hay again, we'll definitely try to book here again!
This property is ideally located for short walks into town and to enjoy local shops and walks along the river. The house is beautifully furnished, has everything you need and is very neat and tidy. The car parking space is also a bonus. Thus is our second time visiting Lion Street and we will definitely be coming back
We had a wonderful week in Hay, and 19 Lion Street was the perfect home from home. Good location with parking, very comfortable and well equipped, and close to all of the amenities. Ideal!!
Property was fantastic. Spotless, everything to a high standard, well equipped kitchen. Everything you could need. Home from home. Welcome goodies much appreciated. Parking an absolute bonus. Hay on wye a lovely little town, very friendly place. Perfect base for the Brecon beacons area. Wish we'd booked for longer so we'll have to come back again!!!
This was our second stay at Pip's Corner and it was as excellent as before. Clean, well equipped, and a great location with parking too. One of the best holiday lets we have ever stayed in.
Adrian
A lovely property in the centre of Hay. Well equipped, with parking too which can sometimes be a challenge to find in Hay. Very comfortable beds and obviously lovingly renovated recently. Highly recommended.
Michael
Excellent property
Lovely property, great location, convenient parking. Very clean, and being dog friendly our beloved Spaniel Poppy could enjoy the holiday too, with some magnificent walks to be had around Hay right from the door. A bottle of wine , some milk and chocolate biscuits awaited us which was a thoughtful touch from the owner. We gave already decided we shall return for another visit. One very minor nitpick there were no dishwasher tablets so we couldn't use the dishwasher, but overall the property is excellent and we had a lovely holiday in it.
Brilliant stay perfect accommodation in a great location! !!
Nicola
Lovely cottage, very comfortable and well equipped for 2 couples. Great location. Parking tight for two cars but is doable for 2 medium SUVs.
The cottage is stunning and has been finished to an excellent standard throughout. It's just a one or two minute walk to the shops and castle and the single parking space behind the cottage is ample for an average sized car. The smaller of the ensuites may be a bit of a squeeze for a generously proportioned individual. We think the tariff we paid August 2024 was excellent value. Highly recommended.
A spacious and beautifully renovated property near the centre of town. Comfortable beds, two en suite bathrooms, great smart TV, kitchen, parking and WiFi. We wished we'd booked for longer!
Rosemarie
The only down side to this property was the access for parking. With a large car the one way street is very narrow. The property itself however is very well presented, clean and comfortable. A vase of fresh flowers was a lovely welcoming touch. My aunt and I felt at home here. We would definitely stay again.

Just a super cottage, furnished to a very high standard. Handy for everything Hay has to offer plus parking! Pretty sure we'll be retuning. Thank you.
The host was extremely accommodating with a couple of queries we had before our stay and also responded really promptly too greatly appreciated. We loved the fact that dogs were really catered for even though we didn't have one with us! with old towels left for muddy paws and treats etc in the utility room.
The house was lovely and in a perfect location to access all of HayonWyes local amenities and shops, even for my elderly mother who needs support to walk. The house is beautifully decorated and finished with lots of little extras included and we loved the little welcome gifts. Will look forward to staying again.
A spacious and comfortable cottage, all very well presented! Great to have the car parking space with this cottage a bonus in this small town. We enjoyed our first visit to Hay, with the shops and Castle, an easy walk from the cottage hope to visit again! Many thanks to the owners. Alan and Gill.
The property is in the perfect location in which to explore Hay and the surrounding area. It is clean and well appointed.
Adrian
Lovely property. Beautifully decorated and maintained. Within easy reach of everything Hay has to offer.
Excellent spacious property exactly as described and very nicely presented. Cheryl was also most helpful. Hay on Wye is absolutely delightful too.
Stephen
A spacious, well appointed house in the heart of HayonWye with a high quality finish. It had all that we needed for a wonderful stay, very dog friendly with lots of considerate touches. Space for 2 average size vehicles at the rear. The Black Lion pub is immediately opposite great food and only a 23 minute walk to the town centre shops, pubs, restaurants. The host was a great communicator and very helpful. A super place to stay, we will be returning.
Miriam
A lovely, comfortable cottage, well presented and very convenient for exploring Hay and the surrounding area. We really enjoyed our stay.
