About The Book Town House

A characterful stone cottage and an adjoining ground-floor studio combine to form this beautiful property in Hay-on-Wye. Sleeping up to six guests, it’s the perfect choice for families and groups of friends planning days of bookshop browsing and outdoor adventures across the Brecon Beacons National Park. Famously described as the ‘town of books’, Hay-on-Wye offers a charming base for your stay. Within 350 metres, you’ll have access to independent stores, cafes and pubs, as well as the town’s incredible range of bookshops and popular events, including The Hay Festival (celebrated in May and June). The River Wye flows through town, inviting days of walking or canoeing and kayaking if you’re feeling more adventurous. More outdoor adventures await across the Brecon Beacons, where popular activities include walking the Offa’s Dyke Path, which passes through Hay-on-Wye, and visiting charming destinations such as Crickhowell, Brecon and Abergavenny (all within 25 miles). Take a step down to enter the cottage, which has been sympathetically restored to combine its original features, such as exposed wooden beams, with a host of modern amenities for a comfortable stay, including underfloor heating throughout the ground floor. Move through to the social heart of the cottage: the open-plan living space. Combining a contemporary kitchen with a dining space and chic lounge, this is the perfect spot for unwinding between days out. Settle in the lounge area as you sink into the soft seating, flick through the Smart TV and bask in the glow of the wood burner-effect electric fire during chillier stays. Offering more space to unwind, a secret door leads through to the adjoining studio accommodation, offering a stylish one-level space with another open-plan living area. Here, you’ll find a lounge with plush seating and a Smart TV, as well as a modern kitchen and dining space. When it’s time to call it a night, the studio boasts a super-king-size bedroom and a shower room with a walk-in shower, while up on the first floor of the cottage, you’ll find a king-size bedroom with an en-suite shower room and a double bedroom that makes use of the family bathroom. Outside, to the rear of the property, awaits a beautiful courtyard garden, which is enclosed for your privacy. Here, you can gather at the bistro set for morning coffees and evening tipples, while the outdoor dining furniture sets you up for al fresco meals late into the night. Parking is on-street and subject to availability, and Oxford Road Car Park (pay-and-display) is less than 350 metres away.
