Grove Cottage Reviews

Grove Cottage is a beautiful, quaint cottage situated in a quiet location, yet has easy access to many lovely towns and places of interest. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there , and had peace of mind that the hosts were just a call or text away should anything arise .
We had a wonderful time at Grove Cottage. It is a beautiful old cottage which has been very sensitively modernised. We hope to return.... maybe when the surrounding countryside is a little less wet!?
This little cottage is so welcoming and comforting. Home from home. A lovely energy. It is surrounded by wildlife. The birds, squirrels, rabbits and Owl. A mouse in the garden wall even Newts. It is the most peaceful little retreat and if you love to be in nature this is a perfect escape. I absolutely loved this house and the surroundings. It rained all week but I actually had time to watch the rain even went in the hot tub in the rain. Just perfect.
We absolutely loved our week at Grove Cottage and didn't want to leave. It was absolutely spotless, very quiet and so very comfortable. Gorgeous place with an interesting history, in a lovely setting. Everything we could possibly need was provided, including a lovely welcome pack. Thank you so much Zena and Roger.
Fabulous cottage , fabulous hosts
Lesley
Lovely cottage in an idyllic setting, will definitely return
We loved the cottage, its history and setting location. It was impeccably clean and tidy and set up so you can cook and eat inside or out. The hamper of treats and the milk in the fridge on arrival are a really nice touch. We enjoyed a couple of rounds of golf on the Deer Run course and thoroughly enjoyed dinner and brunch at the golf club restaurant.
Cheryl
A beautiful cottage very well maintain, everything you need, well equipped kitchen, beautiful gardens. Had a great experience on the farm, the family are lovely, I wish I could have stayed longer.
Jeremy
Ideal spot for a relaxing break. Hot tub was a welcome addition. Cottage was well equipped and log burner was a comfort. Proximity to lots of things to do, Charlotte was a useful source of information & the sunday lunch was fantastic Our only suggestion to maybe increase on comfort levels would be a matress topper on the double bed as we found the mattress springs a bit intrusive. Otherwise a fantastic stay
We loved it! Perfect family holiday property. Comfy beds and lots to do.
Adrian
Lovely cottage. Thank you so much for the goodies and treats and also just including all the necessary bits and bobs to make our stay easier. It made the perfect base for us to explore the local area and was an added bonus to come back to the hot tub! We also loved the golf & bowling being just down the track.
Barbara
My Daughter and I had to find cottage last minute because our original holiday was cancelled because of flooding, we were accommodated the same day. Our first impression when seeing the cottage was this will be perfect, we were not disappointed, we had a warm welcome, muffins and treats made it special, the house was comfortable and homely with extras provided, golf bowling and restaurant, and plenty of gardens and places to see, or relax in cottage garden and hot tub,..Barbara Wicks.
This was by far one of the best cottages we have stayed in. Quirky, historic and a lovely quiet setting. The hosts were helpful and the welcome pack was amazing. From the big fluffy towels, sharp knives, books and games, beautiful decor, could not fault anything.
Krister
What a gem of a place. Very well kept and kitted out with everything you could need. The welcome pack was appreciated and full of goodies and the muffins were delicious. Will be back to stay again!
Benjamin
Lovely, quaint cottage with the right amenities, and great facilities at the Grove, with friendly and helpful staff in the whole team. Thanks for being great hosts! The cottage is amazingly located, and whilst beside the golf course and within walking distance of the facilities is really amazingly secluded. Will definitely hope to return!
Cosy if not quirky cottage. Peaceful private garden with pond rabbits, squirrels, birds, etc quiet apart from nearby A49. Several steps into rooms with 13 stairs to first floor Sykes could have explained not suitable for those with mobility issues we had great difficulty. Wardrobes and freezer would have proved useful. Owners delightful, welcoming and very helpful. On the whole, enjoyable but too expensive.
Richard
A stunning cottage in a great location. Very clean and tidy, the hot tub is great and the fire pit is a real treat for the evenings. The cottage is very peaceful and private. Zena is a wonderful host and very helpful. The welcome basket and cake is a real bonus and a lovely surprise. The restaurant at the club is very nice, walking distance with a lovely menu and good food. There is plenty to do locally for day's out. Many thanks for a wonderful and much needed break. Thank you
Adrian
We loved staying at Grove Cottage! It was comfortably furnished with a lovely mix of old and new and very wellequipped. On arrival we found a wonderful welcome hamper, plus milk in the fridge, coffee and tea, and a gorgeous homemade victoria sponge. There were also supplies of toilet rolls, handwash, clingfilm and foil, plus cleaning products. The upstairs is quite dinky, just the two bedrooms, the double a good size, the twin fairly compact, but downstairs has been very imaginatively extended to make a very spacious living space. One point that is not mentioned in the details is that, no doubt as a result of extending an old cottage, there are a lot of changes of floor level downstairs, some actual steps, but some just enough to make a trip hazard until you're used to them. Other than that, the cottage is delightful! There was no shortage of hot water and the heating was easy to control despite it being June, the weather was so chilly we used it selectively morning and evening. The pretty garden, beautifully maintained, was lovely to sit in when we did get some sun and my husband really enjoyed the hot tub. One final positive in our eyes was that all the windows had blinds or, in the case of the large window in the loungediner, thick curtains. On a chilly night, it was nice to be able to close off the encroaching darkness, even though the cottage was secluded, but too many holiday cottages seem to think it unnecessary.
This is a wonderful cottage, managed with care x Lovely owners, beautifully presented property, with thoughtful touches. ...generous welcome pack....handwritten welcome card. Brilliant locationoff the heated track, but in walking distance of the Grove bowl and facilities. Highly recommend. N.Bfor Sykes......this property knocks spots off the property in Anglesey from which we had to be moved at Easter!!!!!
A very well appointed cottage with everything provided. A lovely welcome pack awaited us. Met our hosts who were very welcoming. Good location with easy access to towns and places of interest.
Tracey
Great cottage felt at home everything provided and zeena was very welcoming, loved the brownies and hamper basket, will definitely return .
Richard
Perfect stay in a beautifully presented cottage, exactly as described.
Allison
A wonderful relaxing long weekend idilic location but near enough to the owners golf club and facilities. The foud was brilliant and a great afternoon spent on the crazy golf. With the added bonus of a surper hot tub and lots of extras when we arrived would highly recommend..
Charlotte
Had a wonderful, relaxing stay in Grove cottage. We were welcomed by a lovely card, a basket of tasty treats and delicious lemon cake, which was a much needed treat after our long journey to get here. The cottage was clean and well maintained and had everything we needed and the kitchen was very well equipped. The hot tub was a huge bonus and felt very private and secluded of an evening with the garden lights making the space feel cosy. The restaurant at the golf club at the bottom of the track served delicious food and is handy if you don't fancy travelling for food or things to do, but the cottage is also well located for exploring the wider area with plenty of things to see and do a short drive away. The owners provided a folder full of useful information which included nearby attractions and restaurants to visit. Would definitely recommend staying here
We had a fantastic stay at Grove cottage. We were made to feel welcome at the cottage with a lovely hamper and cake and then by friendly faces at the driving range and bowling alley. The cottage itself was cosy but had everything we needed, even extras for travelling with a 6 month old. Zena suggested some great places to visit and when we returned the log fire and hot tub were a great combination. Thanks for a lovely stay.
Danielle
We had a lovely stay here and would thoroughly recommend it. The house is extremely well equipped. Zenas chocolate cake was amazing! The hamper was one of the best weve had. There were plenty of logs for the log burner which was appreciated too. Thank you Zena and Roger.
Grove Cottage was absolutely perfect for our weekend away. The cottage itself had every amenity we could need. The location was private despite the location, and the hot tub was wonderful! We could hear each other talk over the jets.
Grove cottage is a great little idyll, it gave use the peaceful break we needed, watching all the birds from the hot tub was a highlight. Zena and Roger have thought of every little detail and the scrummy welcome pack was greatfully recevied.
Lovely property and owners. Well equipped throughout, really super welcome basket of goodies including home made cake was a lovely plus and set the tone for the whole stay. Secluded spot but loads to do nearby including golf and bowling plus a lovely restaurant at the Grove in walking distance when you dont fancy going further afield. Cant recommend Grove Cottage highly enough, it was super.
A wonderful place to stay The description doesn't do the cottage justice everything was well thought of. The welcome hamper and cake on arrival was fantastic We met Zena and her daughter whist there and they were welcoming and friendly Would highly recommend and look forward to returning when a bit warmer so we could enjoy the hot tub Thank you for a wonderful week
Matthew
Nothing to complain about here, what a lovely cottage with lots of history behind it. My only complain would be the lack of pans for frying things, which is obviously not that much of a big deal!
We have just finished the most wonderful week's stay over Christmas at Grove Cottage. We cannot recommend this beautiful property highly enough. The cottage is in a beautifully secluded location but is close enough to get to lovely local areas. It is on the edge of a golf course site with easy access to its bowling alley and crazy golf which were great for the kids. The restaurant on site is wonderful too! Zena and Roger are amazing hosts, we walked in to the most thoughtful welcome pack of treats and necessities, as well as a delicious homemade cake! Zena checked in on us to make sure we were okay during the stay. Our favourite part was probably the hot tub, sitting in it of an evening looking up at the night sky is just amazing, much needed relaxation! We will definitely be back, thank you Zena and Roger!
Best secluded property we have stayed at. Lovely two bedroom grade 2 listed, a real gem. Set at the end of a tract at the golf course, well equipped inside and heated hot tub outside. Bonus was the facilities at the club, excellent restaurant serving value for money meals. Adventure putting course and ten pin bowling. Wednesday bowl and steak is a must. The other surprise with this property is the hamper, eggs, cake etc that you find on arrival. Wonderful set up Zena and Roger.
Andrew
Have just stayed at Grove cottage , a lovely cosy 2 bedroom property. On arrival there was a basket of goodies, biscuits, crisps, eggs, milk, and a fantastic home made cake .The host Zena popped in to check everything was ok .The property is lovely and private up a track that ends at the property .Everything you could want is there if you want to cook up a meal, or ,if not, at the start of the track is the golf driving range where we ate the first night .There is also crazy golf and a bowling alley there.Although secluded you are not far from places such a Leominster,Ludlow and Hereford.Having a hot tub was great as we sipped wine looking up at all the stars in such a black sky, which you dont get in the city with all the light pollution .The lounge has a log burning fire which made for a cosy atmosphere and I would highly recommend this property as the hosts have thought of everything you may need .
Darren
Wow what a brilliant retreat. Repeat visit required for sure! Grove cottage is a beautiful game keepers cottage, just off the beaten track pretty much secluded, in the grounds of a golf course beautiful decor and amenities. Comfortable, clean and it says come back for more. The hamper was the best we've ever had with any break we've had through Sykes, cake, eggs, bread, snacks etc etc even milk.to enjoy a coffee once we arrived and seeming it was our wedding anniversary break Zena and Roger had left us an extra celebratory gift in the fridge to enjoy toasting in the hot tub later. Thank you We enjoyed our time visited the Hickory stick restaurant for the Wednesday Steak and bowl which we couldn't fault with friends who visited for the day but they also do food through out the day starting with breakfast til 6pm. Recommended to friends already and they will be booking up too. Things we did while there, was a trip to the Newcourt cider just down the road, The Bush Inn for a very different afternoon tea, Monkland cheese dairy, local cosy pub in Leominster the White lion and Coffee, cake and more at St Michael's hospice coffee and books. Sure there's lots more to explore yet that we didn't get to do. We did plan to go to Queenswood parkarboretum and a few walks and a visit to the local deli in town but that'll be on the list next time. As you can see a most enjoyable stay.
Rebecca
We had a lovely stay at Grove Cottage. The cottage was clean, we had everything we needed, and were welcomed by a fabulous hamper and chocolate cake! The lounge was cosy, with the woodbuner lit, the hot tub was great after walks in the countryside, and it was a bonus to be able to visit the restuarant at the end of the track for a tasty meal. The cottage is very peaceful and steeped in history, would definitely stay again!
Fantastic, secluded cottage. We felt warmly welcomed to the cottage with the homemade chocolate cake and other goodies awaiting. Beds were very comfortable and the cottage very well equipped. Lovely meeting you both. We hope to return.
Carmen
We were greeted with a big chocolate cake and a lovely welcome card. The second week Zena made us delicious home made scones. Mmmm! Zena also left us lots of added extras that were a big surprise and most welcome. Having a private hot tub in the lovely garden area was also an added bonus as well as close access to the golf club and restaurant, crazy golf etc. Zena was on hand, only a phone call away, if we needed anything, and was very nice and friendly. We enjoyed getting out and about a lot, as well as enjoying some time in the lovely, historic, cosy cottage. We would highly recommend Grove Cottage.
Valerie
This is a lovely cottage in a beautiful location. It had everything you could possibly need and the owners had left delicious homemade cake and a basket of snacks also eggs and milk, really appreciated after a long journey. There is a restaurant nearby and also other facilities. This cottage is a little gem and the owners have created the most lovely country retreat. Thank you Zena and Roger. We will be back!
We had a wonderful welcome. There were many little touches that just gave the cottage the edge. Everyone we had contact with was warm and friendly which again made our stay that much more enjoyable. The facilities in the cottage were beyond what we expected. Without doubt we will be back.
