The Cow Shed is a self-catering cottage in Gloucestershire, near Ross-on-Wye and the Wye Valley, one of England's most scenic river valleys. This is a genuinely peaceful countryside retreat with an open fire, a private garden and patio and off-road parking. No hot tub here, but the setting and the stillness more than make up for it.

The Wye Valley offers walking straight from the door, canoeing on the River Wye and cycling through ancient woodland. The Forest of Dean is close by. Ross-on-Wye is nearby with independent shops, galleries and traditional pubs. The nearest shop is 1 mile away and the nearest pub is 1.2 miles.

Quaint cottage, enjoyed our stay but for one week there were some short comings. I didnt realise there was no microwave so this would have helped. The freezer compartment of the fridge was so iced up the door of the compartment could not be closed, needed defrosting!! The shower mat was dirty and we couldnt stand on it after a shower without puttying a towel down first. No toilet brush, no vent in toilet, no soap dish and towel rail, no main light to enable reading in lounge at night. If these were put right it would be an excellent cottage.

A lovely place to stay we had a very peaceful 3 nights at the cow shed. Very well equipped and very quiet. Our host Bridget had thought of everything including the port and chocolates. Would recommend staying here it is a good base for exploring the local area and exactly what we were looking for.
