The Old Bakehouse Reviews

Meryll
It was a lovely place to stay, very clean and well equipped. The owners were there and very friendly if you needed help. The welcome package was brilliant, we ordered pizza the first night we arrived 730pm after a very long drive from the north of Scotland as we didnt feel like cooking. The bread, butter and eggs that were in it were perfect for a great breakfast the next morning. Not to mention the biscuits, chocolates and crisps that disappeared during the stay. Tea, coffee and milk were also provided. I took my 2 small dogs and they loved the enclosed garden which was a maze of smells for them. It was nice being able to let them rush around without a lead and know they wouldnt get out.
Amanda
Lovely cottage in beautiful village . Owners are so friendly and kind . Dog loved it and overall a very dog friendly cottage .Amazing welcome pack and perfectly clean on arrival . Will definitely return and would highly recommend. .
Stephen
Beautiful quaint little Cottage, the sort of place that I could live! ! Home from home. 2 couples and a dog and was perfect, having 2 bathrooms was amazing. Top bedroom however has low roof either side of the bed but we are short people so wasn't a major issue for us. Parking was never an issue outside on the road in front of the owners shop. you must, must !! look into this beautiful shop. its like a curiosity shop! on arrival we were provided with an amazing hamper of which I am sure you can buy any contents from it in the shop, as we did! the butter was amazing. Totally recommend this place, with 2 pubs more or less next door, both serve food although only one allows dogs. Great friendly locals.
Rosalind
This is a real gem and exceeded our expectations! ! Sam and Adrian and superb hosts and gave a very generous welcome hamper. The accommodation and garden is really secure for dogs and there is immediate walking to open areas as soon as you step out the door on to the beautiful church and bell tower grounds. The property also has the benefit of both bedrooms having ensuite bathrooms. The village of Pembridge is really stunning too!!
A cute and quirky cottage, perfectly located for exploring Herefordshire. Thoughtful touches from the hosts a lovely couple who live and work next door included a well provisioned kitchen, generous welcome basket, wood for the burner although we had lovely weather and didn't need to use it, and copious leaflets and information about the local area.
Bernie
Relaxing and comfortable stay at Old Bakehouse, everything you need is here. Beautiful garden safe and enclosed for dogs. Lots of walks on the doorstep, we had a really enjoyable stay. Thank you Bernie, Fiona, Biggs and Jiminy.
Jonathan
Great location for exploring. Very friendly people who looked after us . We enjoyed our stay and found some places that we want to explore in more detail. Interesting location, found ourselves suddenly transported into an episode of the 'Archers' BBC 4 radio show Two great pubs, really friendly locals. If you come here with kids go to the small breeds farm near Kington. If you like exploring in the car do a lap of the Elan Valley or take the mountain pass from Rhayader to Devils Bridge, Herefordshire also has a lot to offer.
Michael
Really enjoyed our stay. Sam and Adrian were extremely welcoming and the welcome pack was one of the best we've received.
Abigail
We loved our stay in the Old Bakehouse. It's comfortable, the beds are huge, the welcome basket is generous and the garden is magical. Everything has been planned with thought and care. Sam and Adrian are wonderful hosts. We enjoyed chatting with them every day, popping into their gorgeous village shop for advice, stamps or a bottle of wine. It made our stay really special and we'll remember this one forever. We were sad to leave. Highly recommend.
Beautiful setting and cottage The owners are wonderful really friendly 2 pubs the one next door is really good but the new inn wasn't that good not very friendly. But the village is very nice lovely dog walks lovely church overall we couldn't fault it will be back
Victoria
Beautiful location and cottage very well equipped. Beds very comfortable but be careful with the low ceiling in the upstairs bedroom and bathroom. Roll top bath is delightful. Very generous welcome basket thank you. Cooking facilities excellent. Great walking but some footpaths not well marked but walking along the lanes is good. Nice pubs locally the New Inn and both in Erdisland. The garden is beautiful and overlooks the church. Only downside was there was some dust and some dog hairs, and although dog friendly, not all guests, us included, bring dogs.
Kathryn
Beautiful cottage in a great location. We had a really comfortable stay with a fantastic welcome pack and treats for the pooch. Would definitely recommend. King sized bed really comfortable. Thank you
Lorraine

Amanda
Cosy cottage in tranquil spot, a few steps away from the quaint church & historic Bell Tower. Ye Olde Steppes shop provides all you need & also has a fascinating past. Owned by the cottage owners who provide an extra special touch. Lovely walks for pooches & welcoming pub on your doorstep. The cottage has an adorable garden which our pooches loved exploring. Overall we had a perfect stay chilling over the Christmas period & would highly recommend.
Georgina
We had a wonderful welcome upon arrival and welcome basket. This warm welcome and helpfulness remained throughout our stay until we reluctantly left to return home. Thank you both We had a brilliant comfortable 5 night stay enjoying the locality and all Herefordshire has to offer. A gem xx
Catherine
This is a lovely cottage, next to a church in a very welcoming town. The owners are lovely and always free for a chat about the area or to serve sweets and ice cream from the Ye Olde Steppes shop. We recieved the most fabulous welcome basket and found the cottage to be immaculate and full of character. We enjoyed sitting in the garden, enjoying the quiet and watching the stars. This is a great base for exploring the area, with a stream and countryside walks on your doorstep.
A very warm and friendly welcome by Sam and Adrian the cottage itself was what ... A very warm and friendly welcome by Sam and Adrian the cottage itself was what ever cottage should be quaint and cosy next to a pub lucky for us there were two pubs and a wonderful restaurant called the cider barn highly recommend the beds were very comfortable a garden to sit out in day or night star gazing is a must 1010 experience
We absolutely loved our stay. Adrian and Sam were wonderful hosts. The property is lovely, an absolute gem. Right in the heart of the village, but it never felt anything other than calm.
Jeanette
Loved the place, and the surrounding area. Hosts were accessible, friendly. price great.
From their warm welcome to the end of our stay the owners couldn't have been more helpful. The cottage was very comfortable and peaceful and was the perfect base to explore the the Herefordshire countryside from. Our two dogs enjoyed the secure garden and riverside walks. Thank you.
Steven
We booked this property as it looked ideal for us to explore the area, it certainly didn't disappoint. Quirky with character, all you required to have a relaxing and enjoyable stay. The layout was well thought out and the property owners who live next door and also run the local convenience store located to the front of their property were always available if needed. On arrival they met us with open arms and by the time we left I felt I had known them for many years having chats in their lovely old shop, they were so friendly and helpful and couldn't do enough for you. We visited a couple of national trusts not that far away plus a bit of sight seeing, weather behaved during the day so we made the most of it. If you are looking for a relaxing break in a sleepy chocolate box village and have no major mobility issues I suggest give this place a try, you will love it. Hope to return at some point in the future..
