The Hideout Reviews

My wife and I recently enjoyed a fournight stay at The Hideout with our dog. The cottage perfectly suited our needs, featuring a comfortable sitting and dining area, a wellequipped kitchen, a spacious shower room, and a cozy bed. The local pub was excellent, and we found the community welcoming and friendly. The location is ideal, offering easy access to Monmouth, RossonWye, and Symonds Yat, all perfect for scenic walks. Our hosts, Ian and Sally, were exceptionally kind and accommodating. While we didnt require any assistance during our stay, it was clear that nothing would have been too much trouble for them. The lemon drizzle cake waiting for us on arrival was a delightful touch and made us feel especially welcome. We truly appreciated their hospitality and look forward to returning.
Had a lovely few days at the Hideout. Such a beautiful location and the view from the balcony is better than the photos. Lots to see and do around this area so hopefully will be able to come again soon. We loved staying at the hideout and the owners are so friendly and helpful. Thanks again
The first holiday property Ive stayed at where the views were as good or better than the photos. Stunning location. Lovely property and good hosts. Hope to return next year
Amazing venue with fantastic views. Host was helpful and accommodating and lemon cake on arrival was much appreciated after long journey. Myself and dogs really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend to everyone...especially those with pets
Cottage is in a superb location. Ideal for a quiet escape. Owners very willing to assist with any issues but not in any way obtrusive.

What a great holiday place the Hideout is. We were looking for peace and quiet, somewhere to wind down after a busy year and the Hideout provided the perfect place, whilst being close to Ross, Monmouth, Hereford and other places of interest. Ian and Sally were great hosts, there if needed but not intrusive. We will be back next year.
Claire
Nice cottage in a beautiful location. Good base for long walks and days out. Lovely and quiet for our dogs. Thank you for the hot drinks and lemon cake on arrival.

We had a quiet and relaxing stay at the Hideout for a week in July. The weather was mostly raining so we didn't use the swimming pool but it looked lovely. Everything was provided that we needed. The decking area was contained so we were happy that our little dog could safely wander in and out. The owners left us in peace to enjoy our stay but were very friendly and helpful. There was no lock on the bathroom door which we would have preferred but otherwise a great holiday for a couple looking for a tranquil little retreat.

The hideout is an unique find. It offers a relaxing retreat with the added extra of an outside pool which we used daily. The Royal arms pub is a short walk up the hill which has freehouse beer and serves food. We travelled into Ross on Wye one day which is definitely worth a visit. Great host, great location, and a perfect retreat.
Lovely place to stay, helpful hosts.
A hand raildown the steps would be a great help. Some kind of blind at the balcony end?
Lovely visit. Such a peaceful location in a beautiful area. Owners on hand and very helpful. Excellent pub five minutes walk away. Only small criticism is that the bed is on the small side.
The Hideout is perfectly named. We had a wonderful peaceful New Year hiding away from everything. Beautiful and cosy little place. Snug as a bug with an amazing log burner and plenty of logs. Stunning views and lots of walks straight from the door. All over too soon.....
Lovely break with fabulous weather, the holiday home had everything we needed and is an excellent base for walking and sightseeing in the Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley. The hosts are very helpful and the lemon drizzle cake was delicious. Hopefully our next visit well be able to take advantage of the lovely pool
Highly recommended beautiful holiday home. The owners are on site but are helpful, friendly and give you privacy. The hideaway has everything you need for your stay, is well equipped, views are stunning, great walks an Close to local amenities. Swimming pool is stunning as is the setting. Would 100 return, really dog friendly. We and the dogs loved it.

Ian and Sally were great hosts, couldnt do enough to ensure our stay was a great and relaxing experience. The Hideout was clean, well equipped, in a fabulous location and the pool just topped it off. Great base to explore the surrounding area if you could drag yourself out of the pool. Our dog also had a great time and loved playing with Ian and Sallys own dogs. Cant wait to go back.
Excellent place, hosts and facilities will be returning next year
Claire
Just returned from a wonderful week at the hideout, the most enjoyable relaxing place weve stayed at. We couldnt have wished for better . The hideout was extremely well equipped for all our needs for a relaxing break. Cake ,milk & tea on arrival, plenty of bathroom towels, even supplied swimming towels. The pool was glorious, plenty to do out and about, our dogs really enjoyed and we will definitely be coming back. Everything in the description was bang on , IAN is a very nice guy and happy to help with anything you need, but also certainly didnt invade your space or privacy .he lives in house opposite with his wife and gorgeous dogs All in all . Just perfect. And exceptional value for money .

A lovely cosy cottage with everything supplied that is needed for a comfortable few days stay. A great winter break which I think would be even better in the summer.

Daniel
Had a great stay at the Hideout. The accommodation was well equipped and in a lovely secluded location. Its a shame it was in the middle of winter and I couldn't use the pool, however the log burner made up for it! Thanks
Difficult steps from car park , handrail would be useful. Top quality furnishings and fittings, Very cosy and comfortable.
We had a great stay, thank you so much!
Annette
We had a lovely stay at the Hideout, thank you so much! The set up, views and dog friendliness were outstanding! We especially appreciated the cake, milk and coffee provided and will definitely keep you in mind for further short breaks!

Cottage was superbly appointed with everything one would need. In a good location ideal for visiting the local attractions such as Monmouth Hereford etc. We were made extremely welcome and although we did'nt use the swimming pool it would be a bonus in the summer. On all levels we would highly recommend the Hideout
We enjoyed our week break at The Hideout, very relaxing. The owners Ian & Sally were very friendly and helpfull, enjoyed my swim in the pool although I think Ian thought I was a bit mad swimming in September. We both really enjoyed the break, and Sadie our retreiver enjoyed running around with Ian & Sally's dogs.
We had an amazing stay at the Hideout. We used it as a base for exploring and walking, but could just as easily stayed put and enjoyed the cottage and the pool. The place is cosy, comfortable and situated in a beautifully peaceful location. Ian is a great host and if youre into your food and wine make sure you ask for and follow up on recommendations for local butchers, produce and wine options, second to none in our opinion. Incredible, loved it! Would definitely recommend.
Gorgeous cottage in a fantastic location, stunning views, walks right out of the cottage or plenty of local walks within a short drive. Hosts were lovely and really helpful and really pleased we got to enjoy the pool one afternoon during our stay. Would definitely recommend.
Louise
Amazing location, fabulous hosts, most dog friendly accommodation we have stayed at and ideally located for exploring Forest of Dean and surrounding areas. Cake on arrival was gorgeous, all the necessities tea, coffee, sugar, milk provided. Linen high quality, spotlessly clean throughout. Honestly not a thing we would change. We will be back x thanks Ian, Sally and pooches for welcoming us to your lovely home.
Lovely idyllic hideaway and friendly hosts ,Ian and Sally. Shame weather was not good enough to use the pool but looked inviting !. Definitely recommend staying if you want somewhere quiet but close enough to travel to places locally. Local pub was also good and the food was superb .
We were very happy with everything relating to our stay at the Hideout. From the directions to the location to our checking out everything was better than we could have hoped for. The cottage itself was perfect for our stay, the quality of the finish of the decor was exemplary and impressed us no end. We were lucky to be there when the days were very warm and we were able to use the pool and were happy we did. The all round ambiance of the Hideout was one of peace and calm. The time we spent there was a fabulous destressing activity. We look forward to visiting again in the future.
